That’s a Lot of Dates

Happy almost Christmas Eve to those of you who will be celebrating! It seems like parts of Dallas are extremely crazy with folks taking care of last minute errands and other parts are oddly serene. I guess that’s the joy of not living in the heart of downtown in a city, right?

The last 24 hours have been filled with lots of food and a few dates with folks. Yesterday I had plans for a lunch date with my dad downtown. Since I had a small breakfast I grabbed a handful of pistachios (plus 2 more in the afternoon) to tide me over until lunch.

We went to Village Burger Bar, one of our favorite Dallas spots. I got the Med Salad with chickpeas, feta, red and yellow peppers, and more and we split some sweet potato fries which were amazing!

After a few errands I came home and headed off on a non-food related date with a good friend from high school. Our plan was to take a walk and walk we did. I left a bit early and intermittently ran a couple of laps on the junior high track and then we explored an exercise path through our neighborhood. It was such a great way to spend time catching up! Despite the cold, we were both so distracted that we ended up covering a good 6.5 miles! I was surprised to see that I’d been gone for about 2 hours and covered 7.25 miles in total.

I stretched and immediately grabbed a small snack of leftover broccoli and a few bites of risotto.

Someone else had a date today, with the groomer. Look how pretty handsome Cody looks.

For dinner my mom and I teamed up and put together pulled chicken sandwiches with broccoli and bell peppers sauteed with garlic and chicken broth. I had mine on half a toasted hamburger bun with mustard and pickles on the side.

We laid low again last night. I ended up snacking on a few chocolate covered raisins and a bit of baked apples and blueberries with some maple almond butter.

Now, I’m off on another date. This time, I’m spending some time with my grandparents!  I had a bowl of hot cereal this morning to fuel our adventures. I actually wasn’t very hungry from the mindless (and undocumented) snacking I did yesterday afternoon and last night but knew I needed a solid start to my day.

This bowl had chia seeds and some frozen blueberries mixed in with a couple of slices of grilled pear and 1/2 T of maple almond butter on top. I’m foreseeing a lot of grilled pear in my future breakfasts :)

Alright, time to head out!

How do you prefer to catch up with old friends? Walks? Coffee or meals? Phone calls?
