Dallas, Week 1

I can’t believe that as of tonight I have been back in Dallas for a week. It’s flown by relatively fast and aside from making a couple of wrong turns while driving it feels like I’ve picked up where I last left off.

Thursday night I did one of the most adult things I’ve done in my life – I bought my first car. I’m loving it so far and having my freedom feels pretty good too!

Half of my boxes are unpacked which further drove home my arrival from DC. I had a little meltdown during the 1st round of unpacking but now it’s just time to finish up that task.

Today is my parents’ anniversary so aside from hitting the gym and a few errands, we’ll be celebrating tonight with a family grill out!

Coming up this week – how I’m transitioning from my own kitchen to my parents’ and a few other glimpses into my new set up.

The Joys of Home

I made it home safely last night and though it’s been a mere 12 hours, I’m already enjoying some of the many joys of home.

I slept in.

The sun is shining and I’ve heard rumors of a high of 78 degrees and lots of sun.

My dad has been working from home this morning and is full of quirky, funny one-liners. We also attempted making coffee, which was like the blind leading the blind, and were mildly successful. (I might be slightly over-caffeinated)

The pantry had the ingredients for my favorite breakfast: blueberry hot cereal topped with peanut butter and an egg white.

Not sure what my plan is yet for the day but with a solid start to the morning I’m sure the positivity will continue!

Are you an adept coffee maker? Do you rely on Keurig or a coffee shop for your caffeine fix? My office has a Keurig and on the weekends I just drink green tea.

Early Wake Up Call

When I landed in Dallas last night my parents greeted me with wonderful hugs and kisses. It felt good to be back, especially since I was able to immediately shed my coat and sweater for the 75* weather!! Cody eagerly greeted me as well:

As soon as my suitcase was in the trunk my dad let me know he had scheduled a joint session with his trainer for us at 7am. The idea of working out sounded great but getting up at 6:30am was less than thrilling. Nevertheless at 6:30-ish this morning I dragged my butt out of bed and to the gym with my dad.

Due to some confusion the trainer never showed up but Dad and I got in a pretty great workout anyways. What was a warm up because 30 minutes on the elliptical followed by a 35 minute weights session. While I waited on my dad to shower I got in another 30 minutes walking on the treadmill. My mileage for the day is at 4.7 and that was by 9:30am! I’m glad I got up to workout even if it means I’m tired for our festivities later today.

I was beyond hangry after my workout and whipped up breakfast. I had an egg white with a light sprinkle of cheese, Bob’s Red Mill GF hot cereal with 1/3c fresh blueberries, cinnamon, and peanut butter, and french press coffee that my mom made for me.

The morning trifecta:

Now we are starting to get ourselves ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow and my mom and I are tackling a few errands as well.

See you later today!
